Where to go in a day: the Lérins Islands, Cap d'Antibes and the Esterel
A private day on the water with Sillages Riviera can combine two or three stops from the Old Port of Cannes. Times by sea are approximate and depend on sea conditions.
| Destination | By sea from Cannes | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Lérins Islands | A few minutes | Swim at anchor; underwater museum: the boat anchors as close as allowed, outside the area closed to boats, and you swim out to the statues with mask and snorkel |
| Cap d'Antibes | About 15 min | Swim at anchor along the cape, facing Antibes and Juan-les-Pins |
| Estérel coast and Théoule-sur-Mer | Depends on the cove | Red rocks and coves southwest of Cannes, swim at anchor |
| Saint-Raphaël | Set in your quote | A stop on request, past the Estérel |
| Monaco | About 50 min | A stop in the Principality |
| Saint-Tropez | About 1 hour | A stop in Saint-Tropez, return in the afternoon |
Approximate times, depending on the sea and on the route chosen by the skipper. Underwater museum: strong swimmers only, with a life jacket or buoy if needed, depending on the sea and visibility. To end the day at sea, add a private sunset cruise.

On board and on request: a day charter with skipper on the French Riviera
Every private boat charter with skipper from Sillages Riviera reserves the boat for your group alone.
The boat and your crew
The Axopar 38 Cross Top is 12 meters (39 feet) long, delivered new in 2027, with twin 300 hp outboard engines. Your crew is a licensed professional skipper (captain), at the helm whenever the boat is moving, alone or with a hostess or deckhand depending on the number of guests, the length of the day and your wishes.
Comfort aboard
Masks, snorkels, fins, 2 paddleboards, towels and water are on board, with life jackets for every age, including SOLAS-certified infant life jackets. The cabin has a private restroom with a hot shower, an outdoor shower rinses off the salt, and the aft lounge converts from dining table to sun pad: see the Axopar 38 Cross Top page.
On request
Lunch, drinks (champagne available), appetizer platters, canapés, flowers or a photographer can be arranged, and you can pay for them directly on board, with no obligation to buy. A refrigerator and a wet bar keep drinks cool, and a Bluetooth sound system plays your music.
Who drives, and when can you swim?
On Sillages Riviera, only the professional skipper drives the boat. Swimming and the fold-down terraces are for stops at anchor only.
The skipper stays at the helm
Your skipper drives all day, so you need no boating license and guests do not take the helm: every day is skippered, and the boat is never rented without its skipper. The skipper also chooses the route and the anchorages according to wind and swell.
Terraces and swimming at anchor only
The sides of the boat (bulwarks) fold down into terraces at water level only when the boat is anchored; they stay closed while the boat is moving and at the dock. Swimming, snorkeling and paddleboarding happen only at anchor, when your skipper gives the go-ahead.
Good to know
Meeting point
Quai Saint-Pierre in the Old Port of Cannes, or another harbor on request, at a supplement. During the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Régates Royales, the quay is closed and your quote names another boarding point.
What to bring
Swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses and a light sweater for the evening.
Languages on board
Every skipper speaks at least English and French.
Weather and cancellation
Only swell, wind or confirmed rain can cancel a trip, never clouds alone. Your skipper checks the sea before every departure and has the final say; rescheduling or refunds follow our terms and conditions of sale.
Accessibility
Boarding is difficult but not impossible for guests with reduced mobility, and the restroom is not wheelchair accessible. See the FAQ and contact us before you book.
Questions
Do I need a boating license to rent a boat with a captain in Cannes?
No. With Sillages Riviera, a professional skipper drives the boat all day, so no license is needed and guests never take the helm.
How much does a boat rental with skipper in Cannes cost?
The quote is free: the price is per boat, not per person, including VAT, for up to 8 guests. It depends on the date, the duration (full day or half day) and the route.
What happens if we cancel, or if the weather turns?
Only swell, wind or confirmed rain can cancel the day, and your skipper may change the route to find sheltered water. Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds follow our terms and conditions of sale; see also the private boat FAQ.
Is a half-day boat hire with skipper possible?
Yes: a half day lasts about 4 hours; ask for it in your quote request. It suits a trip to the Lérins Islands, a few minutes from Cannes.
Can children come for the day?
Yes. Children are welcome, with life jackets for every age, including SOLAS-certified infant life jackets, a private restroom and shade under the roof.
